Tag Rugby Festival

Our whole school Tag Rugby festival took place on Friday last week.  Primaries 1 to 3 played their games before break, and the older classes played after break.  Everyone played in their house teams, (Seals, Otters, Beavers and Dolphins) with a Primary 7 pupil acting as captain of each team.
P7 captains gathering their teams at the start of the festival.
Bruce reminded everyone of the rules before the games.
Everyone was very impressed by the standard of play, and by the good sportsmanship shown by the teams.

Thank you to Bruce and Mark for their help in organising the festival, and thank you to Tesco for very kindly donating lots of fruit for half time!
Well done everybody!

Visit from PC Kanesh Pankhania

On Tuesday P.C. Kanesh Pankhania, the school's police link officer, visited St Andrews to talk to classes about keeping safe during the holidays.  He spoke to us about road safety, about keeping safe on beaches and near water, about not speaking to strangers and about keeping safe when using the internet.
He thought that we already knew a lot about keeping safe, but felt it was important to remind us of possible dangers before the long summer holidays!

Tag Rugby

Last week we had our last Tag Rugby session with Mark.

After our warm up activities, ....

.... we were split into three teams and played several games.

Each time a try was scored, ....

.... we changed teams around.

Finally Mark talked to us about next week's whole school Tag Rugby festival and gave us some hints and advice.
Thank you to Mark and Bruce for all their hard work during our Tag Rugby sessions this year.

Another goodbye!

Last Wednesday was S's last day at St Andrews, before moving south to her new school.
Bye bye, S., and good luck in your new school!

Roots of Empathy

Last Tuesday was our last visit from baby L. and her mum, Anna.

We had a lovely time with baby L., thinking about how much she has grown......

.... and developed since her first visit to us,

and talking about our favourite memories of her visits.

We gave L. a book of nursery rhymes, which we had made, ....

.... and a book of our favourite memories of her visits.

We also gave Anna a bunch of flowers to thank her for letting us 'borrow' baby L. for Roots of Empathy!

Bye bye  baby L. and Anna - we will miss our visits from you!

SSPCA talk

Last Tuesday Carol, from the SSPCA, visited Primary 3 to tell us about its work.

She told us all about the different kinds of animals which are helped by the SSCA.

Carol finished with a quiz to see how much we knew, then she reminded us of the phone number to call if we see an animal in need of help.

Sports Day

We were very fortunate to have a beautiful day last Friday for our Sports Day.  In the morning P1 to P3 competed in their activities, including a flat race, a three-legged race, football dribble and an obstacle race.
Dolphins, Beavers, Otters and Seals enjoyed icecream cones together!
In the afternoon, P1 to 3 played games outdoors, while the older classes did their events.

Then Mrs Aitken and Mrs Kirkness challenged each team to arrange themselves in order of height - without speaking!!
Miss Scott and Miss Rendall were amazed that we managed to do it!!
The final event of the day was our usual whole school Tug of War.

A very enjoyable Sports Day ended with the two Dolphins captains receiving the trophy from Jackie Clouston for the most points overall.  Congratulations to Dolphins and well done to everyone!

Lepra workout

Last Wednesday everyone in St Andrews took part in the workout for Lepra.  Stephanie Baird came to teach us the 'Tree dance', which is a traditional Indian dance.  We loved learning all the moves and we especially loved the 'whirlwind' at the end!
